What to do if you have been exposed to COVID-19

Regardless of whether you have symptoms of COVID-19, you are expected to take the following precautions for 10 full days after the day you were last exposed (with the exposure day being day 0).

  • Wear a well-fitting mask anytime you are around others, including at home/your residence halls room, on-campus, and in public.
    • You must continue to wear your mask in settings where mask wearing is optional such events/gatherings, elevators, and hallways.
  • Do not go to places where you are unable to wear a mask, such as restaurants, and avoid eating around others at home and at work.
  • It is best to avoid travel until a full 10 days after you last had close contact with someone with COVID-19. If you must travel, get tested 5 days after your last close contact. Be sure your test result is negative and you remain without symptoms before traveling.

If you are up to date with your COVID-19 vaccinations OR had COVID-19 in the last 90 days

If You Do Not Have Symptoms

  • You do not need to quarantine if you remain symptom-free.
  • Get tested 5 days after your last exposure (with the exposure day being day 0). Antigen tests are available to pick up in the lobby at Habif Health and Wellness Center.
    • If you were exposed on more than one day, get tested 5 days after the date of your initial exposure and again 5 days after your most recent exposure.
    • If the person you were exposed to is someone who lives in your household and you are not able to separate from them, your last day of exposure is the last day you were (or will be) exposed to them during their isolation period.
  • Monitor yourself for symptoms of COVID-19 for 10 days after you were last exposed to COVID-19. If you develop symptoms at any time get tested. Antigen tests are available in the lobby at Habif Health and Wellness Center. If your antigen test is negative and you are experiencing symptoms, you must contact Habif Health and Wellness Center to obtain a PCR test to confirm this result.
