In mid-January, the Department of Homeland Security announced the addition of 21 academic programs to the STEM Designated Degree Program List, including the B.S. in Computer Science and Economics program. Students who graduate from a STEM Designated field are eligible for a 24-month STEM extension to their post-completion OPT.

In addition, for the next two academic years (2021-2022 and 2022-2023) J-1 bachelor’s and pre-doctoral students enrolled in a STEM Designated program are now eligible for 36 months of Academic Training. Unfortunately, this extension is not available to J-1 non-degree/Exchange Students. For more information, please schedule an appointment with your OISS Advisor.
