Starting a New Student Group

Undergraduate student groups provide a platform for like-minded individuals to connect, collaborate, and build a supportive community. By bringing students together who share common interests, goals, or experiences, these groups create a sense of belonging and identity on campus. They offer a space for personal growth, as students can develop leadership skills, enhance their social networks, and explore new opportunities. Ultimately, a student group’s significance lies in its ability to empower students, promote inclusivity, and contribute to their overall well-being and success at Washington University in St. Louis.

Students who wish to explore starting a new undergraduate student group should review the New Student Group Formation Guide on the Student Group Starting Point on Canvas. This guide walks you through the ten (10) required steps each group will undergo. Groups are encouraged to begin this process no later than 60-90 days prior to the next review date in order to qualify to apply. New student group reviews are completed in September and January each academic year.
