Welcome/Bienvenidos/Bem-Vindos – First-Year Students!
The Association of Latin American Students (ALAS) would like to welcome all new students to the WashU community!
We know that this semester will be unlike any other. As a student body, we will face many challenges, including staying connected and united as a Latinx community. To help everyone stay in touch, we are planning to host a variety of virtual and socially-distant events throughout the semester.
ALAS, founded in 1992, strives to provide a supportive community and unify all Latinx/Hispanic students. For the past 28 years, we have aimed to create a space that nurtures and celebrates the different identities, stories and cultures within the Latinx/Hispanic umbrella, inside and outside of WashU. This semester, we are working to modify our traditional programming and are planning to host several virtual meetings, conversations, and other types of events to engage with the WashU community.
Find more information about our events, visit our Facebook page or our Instagram. Email any questions about getting involved or our group. To stay up to date with all our events, join our newsletter.
We hope to see you at our events this fall, and hope to listen and learn from your unique perspectives, experiences and ideas. ALAS is always changing, and we are sure that the Class of 2024 will further ALAS’ mission and help to create a more inclusive and diverse student body.
Welcome to the ALAS family!
Until next time! ¡Hasta luego! Até logo!
