Recently Acquired Residential Life Properties

We know many of you have recently been assigned to Moonrise and Quadrangle Apartments. As such, you may have questions about services and amenities within these properties. Please see information below that outlines specifications of the spaces in the Moonrise and Quadrangle Apartments.



The Moonrise Hotel is excited to welcome you to our hotel for the upcoming 2020-2021 school year.  Moonrise Hotel will be working with Washington University to provide a community experience while respecting social distancing guidelines to maintain your safety.  Moonrise has automatic hand-sanitizing stations in the lobby, both elevators, and lounge areas.  Sanitizing wipes will be made available in all student lounges and our Housekeeping staff will work throughout the day to clean and sanitize the public spaces.  Masks will be required in all public areas of the hotel. We look forward to having you stay with us and would like to briefly introduce you to some of our staff and amenities available to you during your upcoming school year.

Moonrise is being transformed into Student Housing but we will still provide somewhat of a hotel experience.  It is our goal to help make your living experience as comfortable and easy during these unique circumstances. 


  • All doors will remain locked. 
  • Only students with a Moonrise Hotel key will be able to access the hotel. 
  • Eclipse Restaurant, on the first floor, will be open daily from 5:00pm to 10:00pm to the public as well as the students.  
  • Moonrise has additional security measures in place during these hours to prevent the public from accessing areas restricted for students only.
  • All students will be issued one hotel key card. They will also have the option to use their phone as a substitute for their key card.
  • If a card is lost, the student must visit the Front Desk to get a replacement by showing a photo ID.  The new key card will replace the old one; should someone find the old card, it will no longer work once it is replaced.

Room Furnishings

All rooms will be furnished with a bed (mattress and box spring), desk with four dresser drawers, a desk chair, television, bedside table with a lamp and USB charging ports, additional seating in the room, closet, iron, ironing board, mini refrigerator, and a programmable safe.  

  • Room numbers ending in 02, 04, 06, 08, 10, or 12 are furnished with queen beds.
  • All other rooms will be furnished with king beds.

All rooms will have individual bathrooms with single sinks, toilets, wall mounted make-up mirrors, and rainfall shower heads.  

  • All rooms will come with a fitted and flat sheet, four pillows and pillow cases. We encourage students to bring their own comforter, as one will not be provided. 
    • We recommend for students to bring their own comforter or blanket.  
    • If students want to bring their own pillows we can still provide pillow cases.

Wifi & Parking

  • Students will have complimentary WiFi and cable television. 
  • Parking will be available in the rear of the hotel. 
  • All utilities (gas, water, electric, and sewer) are included.
  • A bike rack or storage will be on-site and details will be provided once available.  

Cleaning Schedule

  • Moonrise Hotel will provide weekly cleaning of all student rooms. The service will entail cleaning the bathroom, vacuuming, emptying the trash, and changing the sheets, pillow cases, and towels.
  • Towels will be changed out weekly and made available for students to get on their own. 
  • If a student elects to bring their own sheets, pillow cases, or towels we will not change the linens during cleaning nor will we launder the items. 
    • Students will be able to send these items out with the provided pick-up and drop-off Laundry service below.  

Updated 9/2/2020: Laundry Service

Laundry for students at the Moonrise will be facilitated through university student owned business, WashU Wash. Services will begin on September 18th. Bags will be available with Front Desk Management starting Friday, September 18th. Students will be responsible for keeping their laundry bag for the entire year.

  • Laundry Drop Off: Laundry should be dropped off every Friday before 1:00pm. Laundry can be dropped off in a designated place in the hotel lobby.
  • Laundry Pick Up: Laundry will be picked up every Friday at 1:00pm.
  • Laundry Return:  Laundry will be returned every Monday by 6:00pm in a designated space in the hotel lobby.

Detergent Used is a hypoallergenic Tide Free & Gentle and contains no dyes and or perfumes. If you require a different type of detergent than what is provided due to any allergens, please notify WashUWashu immediately at

Laundry cost have been included in the room rates for students living in the Moonrise Hotel. If you are interested in dry cleaning options please connect directly with WashUWash Support. Dry cleaning cost will be the responsibility of the student. 

Mail & Printing Services

  • Mail will be delivered by Moonrise staff by sliding it under students doors. If students receive a piece of mail or package which does not fit under their door, they will receive a message that their package will be available for pickup at the 24 hour Front Desk.
  • Students will be able to print any material by emailing it to the Front Desk.  
    • Black and white copies will be $0.05 per page and color copies will be $0.15 per page billed directly to the room.  


Moonrise residents will be required to purchase an off-campus meal plan

Eclipse Restaurant will be open for dinner service from 5:00pm until 10:00pm daily.  The hours of Eclipse are subject to change based on demand. We will offer a few grab and go options available all day in the lobby. Details of what will be available are still being developed to include breakfast and lunch options. 

Common Spaces

There will be public lounge spaces available to students.  The Twilight Room (indoor space on the roof), Rooftop Garden (outdoor space on the roof) and Apollo Rooms (second floor conference spaces) will all be available to students.  One of the Apollo rooms will have microwaves available for students to use.


Billing for Amenities
  • Students will be billed by room for laundry, dining, and Sundry items (drinks, snacks, and other miscellaneous items). To support physical distancing, students will be able to pay their room bill with a credit card via their phone or computer. A link will be sent to students by the Front Desk at the end of the month to pay for any items billed to the student’s room.  If you would like to pay weekly or bi-weekly you can do so by contacting our Accounting Department.  


Quadrangle Apartment HOUSING

Information about Quadrangle Housing and Parallel Properties

Quadrangle Housing and Parallel Properties are sister companies with apartments in the same areas surrounding Washington University in St. Louis’s Danforth Campus. Both Quadrangle and Parallel’s apartments are at least partially owned by the University. Our staff are University employees in the Off-Campus Housing department and share an office and support staff, including our maintenance team. The main difference between the sister companies is that Parallel typically leases open market for individuals that meet certain rental qualification standards, whereas apartments with Quadrangle are typically reserved for graduate students, faculty and staff at Washington University in St. Louis.

Safety and Security Information

Resident safety is a top priority. All of our buildings have secure access, front door alarms, and a centralized alarm system. The neighborhoods are patrolled both by the Washington University Police Department and local police. You can find more information on safety and security here.

Parking and Transportation

All of our buildings will be within one mile of campus and easily accessible by walking, biking, driving, or using public transportation. There are several shuttles which run through the neighborhoods where our buildings are located. The Campus to Home Shuttle, a free shuttle service available from 6 PM to 4 AM, also runs to all of our buildings. You can find more information on public transit in the neighborhoods near campus and throughout St. Louis on Washington University’s Parking and Transportation website.

Most buildings offer one off street parking space per apartment, but there are some buildings with only street parking. You should receive details about the parking options for your apartment separately. Most off-street parking is available at no additional charge and is located behind the building. The parking options are not covered or gated.

Neighborhood Information

Living off-campus gives students the opportunity to live in and explore new areas. Our buildings are located in University City and the Skinker DeBaliviere neighborhood of St. Louis city. These neighborhoods are vibrant and full of local businesses including restaurants, grocery stores, pharmacies, and boutiques. We’ve included more details on our neighborhoods here.

Billing and Payments

You will be billed for housing through your university account. If you lived in on campus housing last year you will be able to pay for your housing in the same manner you have previously.

Application Information

  • Quadrangle Properties – There is a one page application that will be emailed to you to fill out and return to our office.
  • Parallel Properties Only: If you have been assigned to an apartment with Parallel Properties you will need to complete a screening prior to move in. This is a formality due to Fair Housing practices. The University is your Guarantor. We will contact you with the documents needed and you will be able to submit them through an online portal which we will set up for you. Here are details on the items that will be needed so you can begin to prepare.
  • Application, Applicant Authorization Form, and Rental Qualification Standards: These forms will be emailed to you for completion.
    • Copy of an ID: A passport, driver’s license, state ID, learner’s permit, or other U.S. government issued photo ID are acceptable. Unfortunately we cannot accept a student ID.
    • Please do not email these items to us until requested. Once we are able to process your assignment we will contact you with full details on the documents needed and can answer any questions you might have about this process.

Occupancy Permits (University City Apartments)

University City requires an occupancy permit for each housing unit within the municipality. We will contact you if you are required to complete an occupancy permit and will assist with this process. We will email you an occupancy permit which you will need to complete and email back along with a copy of an ID so that we can submit the permit to University City on your behalf. In accordance with University City’s laws, the occupancy permit must be submitted prior to move in. We will not be able to give you keys to your apartment until the permit is completed.

Maintenance Information

We have a full-time maintenance staff and offer 24-hour emergency maintenance. Non-emergency requests are usually completed within 24-48 hours. Emergencies are addressed within one hour. When you move in you will receive details on how to submit a maintenance request along with the contact information for emergency maintenance should you need it.
Packages — FOR MOVE IN: We are working with WU Mail Services on a plan to help. However at this time we are not able to accept any packages prior to your arrival. If you items have been stored or shipped by UTrucking we will be able to work them on gaining access.

Office Information and Hours

Our office is located on Washington University’s North Campus at 700 Rosedale Ave. St. Louis, MO 63112. North Campus is a larger building which is home to several different departments and offices. Our office is located on the southwest corner of the building near the flagpoles. Guest parking is available in front of our office.

While our office is currently closed due to ongoing COVID-19 concerns, we are available from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday and from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM on select Saturdays during August and September.
