Paige Lawler, a senior majoring in Neuroscience, led the Washington University in St. Louis women’s cross country team to a National Title during the NCAA Division III Cross Country National Championship in Winneconne, Wisconsin in the fall of 2018. She captured first place to take home the individual national championship honors as well, during a race in which every position of the Bears top five runners proved essential in the team victory. Paige crossed the 6K finish line more than three seconds ahead of the runner-up, posting a winning time of 20:55.0 to become the first individual cross country national champ in program history.
Paige also excels during the winter and spring seasons, as proven by three All-American honors last season during indoor and outdoor track & field.
When she’s not running, Paige works in the lab of Randall J. Bateman, M.D. researching the causes, diagnoses and future treatments for Alzheimer’s disease. Paige is part of the ApoE project which focuses on the apolipoprotein E protein, a metabolizer of fat in the body and suspected factor in Alzheimer’s pathology.
