Orientation Programs for International Students

Congratulations on your admission to Washington University in St. Louis!

Orientation programs at WashU provide information and experiences that will help to ease your transition, give you the opportunity to meet others in the WashU community, and make friends before classes have even started.

Undergraduate Orientation Programs

All international undergraduate students are expected to arrive on campus early for International Undergraduate Orientation. The OISS will hold two programs for international undergraduate students:

First-year international students

If you are entering WashU as a first-year international student, you are required to attend First-year Internationals (FYI) Orientation. Please visit our website for more information on move-in, and FYI Orientation schedule.

International Transfer and Exchange students

If you are entering WashU as an international exchange student or international transfer student, you are required to attend Transfer & Exchange Fall Orientation or Winter Welcome. Please visit our website for more information on move-in, and the Transfer & Exchange Orientation schedules.

International Parent & Family Orientation

Please visit the First-year Internationals (FYI) Orientation for details on the International Parent & Family Orientation session.

Graduate Orientation Programs

Each graduate school at WashU has their own set of orientation events and activities. Please check with your school or department for details about your specific orientation programming.

New International Graduate Students

In addition to orientation events scheduled by individual schools or departments, the OISS has international-specific orientation programs for new graduate and professional students. Please check out the graduate orientation page to make sure you don’t miss anything, as some of these programs are mandatory.
