Joan Downey

Dr. Downey joined the Pre-Health Professions program in 2002 as Assistant Dean of the College of Arts & Science to serve as Coordinator of the Undergraduate Research and Clinical Programs at the Washington University School of Medicine. Dr. Downey is a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Newborn Medicine. She is past Pediatric Director of the St. Louis Children’s Hospital Antenatal Consult Service, Labor & Delivery Service and Nurseries at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. She was a premedical advisor in Biology and Medicine at Harvard and served on the Harvard Board of Premedical Advisors and Harvard Medical School’s Central Committee on Admissions. She is course director for Biology 265: Experiences in the Life Sciences and coordinates clinical courses for undergraduates at WUSM such as MedPrep I, II and PEMRAP I, II.
