Question: I am trying to make plans for spring semester. What will the rules be for students on a visa?
Answer: We are awaiting decisions from both the university and the government in regard to students’ options for spring semester. It is expected that the university will announce information about spring semester by mid-November. At that time they will update the university community regarding the mode of instruction, housing options for undergraduates and the finalize spring academic calendar.
It is unknown when the rules for F-1 and J-1 students will be announced by the government. The current rules are only designated for fall semester so it is expected that the government will either extend the fall rules for spring or announce new rules. OISS will inform students by email as soon as the spring rules are published.
Just as a reminder, the current rules for Fall 2020, require new students who are just starting their program and transfer in students who are entering the U.S. to enroll in at least one in person course. This fall semester, continuing students and transfer in students who have remained in the U.S. since March 9, 2020 may choose to study fully online.
